All CBD products you see on our website are derived from hemp. Since the 2018 Farm bill was passed, hemp was legalized in all 50 states in the US. Since then, we are seeing more and more CBD products in the market. From gummies and drinks, to lotions and tinctures.
But how safe is CBD? Are there any negative effects? Is there such a thing as consuming too much CBD?
CBD is non psychoactive
Hemp comes from the same family of marijuana, from the Cannabis Sativa plant. However, unlike marijuana, hemp doesn’t not include high amounts of THC, which is the psychoactive compound that’s associated with feeling “high.” CBD products often contain very little to no THC. In order for a CBD product to be legally compliant, it needs to have less than 0.3% THC. This trace amount of THC will not get you high but you will still be able to benefit from the medicinal properties of cannabis, such as help reduce pain and inflammation, and also anxiety relief.
CBD is safe, even in high doses
As The World Health Organization has stated that CBD is safe and reported that “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”
There are many studies that conclude how CBD is more beneficial to our health and wellness and there are no severe side effects of taking CBD, even in large doses.
In a research study published by NCBI, doctors prescribed patients with up to 1,200mg of CBD every day. After several consecutive months, all patients involved showed no serious side effects. Some of the side effects most often experienced are:
- Decreased appetite
- Feeling sleepy
- Gastrointestinal problems
For most patients, these side effects occurred during the first few weeks and disappeared by lowering the dosages.
If you’re taking other medications or are pregnant, we do recommend you to first speak to a trusted health practitioner before using CBD. If you’re also trying a new product, it’s best to start off with a lower dosage and wait 30 minutes before trying more.
Ensure that you’re getting quality CBD
With all the buzz surrounding CBD, it’s easy to get swept up by the novelty. When selecting a product, it’s important to make sure that the ingredients are safe. There are dishonest CBD products where it can be potentially unsafe and you may experience more adverse effects. Unreliable CBD brands are inaccurately labeled and may contain synthetic cannabinoids, dangerous contaminants, or even higher levels of THC.
CBD.io goes to extreme measures to ensure that all the products we stock go through lab testing and are correctly labeled with the contents in each one verified.
When you purchase from CBD.io, you can be assured that you’re getting a high-quality product that is made from premium and safe ingredients.
